Collaborate

Different crafts, same spark.

Some of the best creative work happens when people from different worlds team up. Here's why, and what members could make.

Why collaborate across crafts

Make work you couldn't make alone.

Fresh eyes

Another discipline changes how you see your own work and pushes it somewhere new.

A stronger portfolio

Finish ambitious pieces with a full team behind them, and come away with work to be proud of.

New audiences

Every collaborator brings their own followers, friends and fans to the finished piece.

Friends through making

The strongest creative friendships usually start with a shared project.

Cross-collaboration ideas

What members could make together.

Six examples of different crafts combining, and what each person gets out of it.

A seasonal editorial shoot

Florist · Photographer · Make-up artist · Model
The idea

The florist builds a floral headpiece and backdrop from what's in season. The photographer and make-up artist shape the look together, and the model brings it to life.

What everyone gets

The florist gets striking images of their work for weddings and social media. Everyone else gets an editorial portfolio piece that stands out from the usual.

A music video on a shoestring

Musician · Filmmaker · Dancer
The idea

A local musician has a new track and no budget. A filmmaker plans a one-day shoot around Ealing, and a dancer choreographs a piece to the song.

What everyone gets

The musician gets a video to release. The filmmaker gets a showreel piece, and the dancer gets their choreography on film.

A zine about Ealing

Writer · Poet · Illustrator · Printmaker
The idea

Short stories and poems about the people and places of the borough, illustrated by members and printed as a limited edition.

What everyone gets

Everyone gets published, physical work to hold and sell, plus a launch night to share with friends.

Handmade vessels, styled

Potter · Florist · Photographer
The idea

The potter's ceramics become vessels for the florist's arrangements, photographed together in natural light.

What everyone gets

Both makers get professional product images and a reason to cross-promote, perhaps leading to a joint pop-up stall.

A night with its own identity

DJ / producer · Graphic designer · Content creator
The idea

A DJ wants to start a regular night. The designer creates the name, posters and visuals, and the content creator films the first event.

What everyone gets

The DJ launches with a professional look. The designer gets a real brand project, and the creator builds an audience alongside it.

A short film in a weekend

Writer · Actors · Filmmaker · Hair & make-up
The idea

A writer brings a ten-minute script, members are cast from the group, and the film is shot locally over a weekend, then screened at a social night.

What everyone gets

Actors get showreel footage, the writer gets their work produced, and everyone gets a film to enter into festivals.

Collaboration can also be simpler: swapping skills, giving feedback, or turning up for each other's gigs and exhibitions.

Member spotlight

Meet the makers.

Once we've started meeting, members can choose to share a short profile: their craft, a piece of their work and where to find them online. It makes finding the right collaborator much easier.

Member profiles are opt-in and coming soon. Join the guest list to be one of the first.
