Answers to the questions people ask most. Anything else? Ask in the forum or message Chris.
Questions.
I'm not an artist, but I love creative things. Can I come?
Absolutely. Common Ground is for creative people and for people with a creative attitude. If you're curious, enjoy ideas and like being around people who make things, you'll fit right in.
Do I need to be a professional?
No. Hobbyists, beginners, people returning to something they loved, and full-time professionals are all welcome.
Do I need a project to show?
No. Plenty of people will come just to meet others. Ideas and projects can come later, or not at all.
Do I have to come every time?
No. We meet every two weeks and you come whenever you're free. Miss a few, catch up on the forum, and pick up where you left off.
Can I bring a friend?
Of course. Most people will come on their own, but you're very welcome to bring a friend along too.
I'm nervous about meeting new people. Is that OK?
Completely. That's exactly who this is for. A host will greet you, introduce you to a couple of people, and there's no pressure to talk about your work or stay late.
How does the forum work?
Once you've signed up, choose a username and introduce yourself in Everyone Welcome. Then you can ask questions, share projects and ideas, find collaborators and chat in the other areas. The forum is for members only.
Does it cost anything?
Joining is free. You pay for your own drink or coffee, and tickets for any outings you choose to join.
Where and when?
A bar in Ealing, on a midweek evening every two weeks from January 2027, or sooner if enough people are interested. Members come from across West London. We'll confirm the exact bar and night here and by email.
Is there an age limit?
Yes. Common Ground is for adults aged 18 and over, because most meet-ups happen in bars.
What do you do with my details?
We only use them to run Common Ground: to let you know about meet-ups and, if you choose, send occasional updates. We never sell or share them. Read the full privacy notice.
How do I save the site to my phone's home screen?
iPhone (Safari): tap the Share button, scroll down and choose "Add to Home Screen", then tap Add.
Android (Chrome): tap the three-dot menu and choose "Add to Home screen" or "Install app".
Common Ground then opens like an app, straight from your home screen.
Is this a business?
No. It's a community group, hosted by a local photographer who wanted more creative friends nearby.
